Symptoms are the body’s way of telling us that something is wrong. Often, we ignore minor symptoms, like foot pain or a mild headache. However, certain symptoms are important to look out for and could indicate serious illness.
Medical definition:
A symptom is something that you feel or experience that indicates you may have a disease or condition. Symptoms are the only things that you can notice yourself; they cannot be observed by another person or appear on a medical test. Symptoms include pain, fever, a rash, coughing and other signs. Symptoms are divided into categories: prognostic, diagnostic and anamnestic. Prognostic signs help doctors predict the course of a disease, such as whether it will get worse or improve. Diagnostic signs are used to identify a specific health problem and are based on your symptoms, history and other information. Anamnestic signs point to parts of your health history, such as acne scars that show that you have had previous skin problems.
